Frequently Asked Questions

Why did LTA commission research on Latinos in STEM fields?
LTA started as a business association with a vision to promote collaboration and innovation for technology business and professionals. In the past several years, the organization saw a decrease in Latino business professionals pursuing high-tech careers and an increase in the dropout rate of high school students in our community. This troubling trend inspired LTA to commission research to understand the symptoms and pursue solutions.

Why is LTA concerned with science, technology, math and engineering?
LTA stresses the importance of a well-educated workforce. To compete effectively in a high knowledge economy, the workforce must be well-educated in science and mathematics. These fields are more likely to bring prosperity to our state and to the Latino community.

Who are LTA’s allies?
LTA seeks to form alliances with educational institutions, government entities and community organizations, and business leaders who share the same concerns and who can help in the implementation of the recommendations that came out from the research. LTA believes in the collective power to effect change.
