History

The Latino Technology Association (LTA) was founded in 2002 as a business association with a vision to promote a culture of collaboration and innovation for technology businesses and professionals. LTA has supported the growth and success of small businesses and has gained recognition for its objectives among top business and community leaders.

In the past several years, however, there has been a decrease in Latino business professionals pursuing high-tech careers and an increased dropout rate among high school students in our community. Motivated by this troubling trend, and seeking to understand the symptoms and to develop solutions with broader impact, the organization underwent a restructuring in 2008, switching from a membership association to a 501(c)(3) programmatic social services organization. This has enabled LTA to pursue programs that leverage and galvanize the collective power of its resources with a focus on economic growth through science, technology, engineering and math.

LTA recently changed its name to Latino Technology Alliance. This better reflects its collaboration with individuals and organizations in clearing the path to increased prosperity in the Latino community via the technology field.

Mission
The Latino Technology Alliance (LTA) advances long-term economic growth in Illinois through practical education, job creation and entrepreneurship in the fields of science, math, engineering and information technology.
